Contaminated Land Services
The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) provides the outline for planning policy to be adopted by local authorities and how it is to be applied. The NPPF encourages the re-use of brownfield sites. The Framework states that planning decisions should ensure that sites are suitable for their proposed use taking into account ground conditions and pollution. As part of the process the framework requires that adequate site investigation should be completed by a competent person.
Brown 2 Green Associates provide practical assessments of the geo-environmental conditions and potential liabilities associated with contaminated land. Site investigations are completed with a thorough understanding of the data needed to complete risk assessments and remedial design. Our contaminated land services include the following:
· Phase 1 Geo-environmental Desk Studies
· Phase 2 Site Investigation
· Soil/Water Sampling and Analysis
· Ground Gas Monitoring and Risk Assessment
· Detailed Quantitative Human Health and Environmental Risk Assessment
· Remediation, Design and Project Management
· Independent Verification and Validation
· Regulatory Liaison and Completion
· Qualified Person for CL:AIRE Definition of Waste: Development Industry Code of Practice and Material Management Plans
· Waste Classification Services

Geotechnical Engineering Services
Brown 2 Green Associates offer a comprehensive range of geotechnical engineering services. We are able to provide our clients with professional advice and analysis for use in the design of foundation solutions and earthworks. Our range of geotechnical experience and expertise includes:
· Geotechnical site investigation
· Site appraisals
· Piling mat, support systems and other temporary works design
· Soakage tests
· Foundation design and solutions
· Earthworks
· Directional drilling feasibility studies
· Geological and hydrogeological assessments
· Mining and cavity investigation
We understand that there is a major interaction between contaminated land and geotechnical requirements. To provide a coordinated approach professional staff are able to design site investigation and remediation solutions that will satisfy both disciplines.

Environmental Property Services
Britain has a long industrial heritage. This results in the potential for environmental and geotechnical risks, causing financial or legal liability and an impact on the value and viability of an investment. A permit or authorisation may be needed to undertake processes at such a facility. To discharge a permit or authorisation, the holder may need to demonstrate that the process has ceased and that the site does not pose a future risk to human health and the environment.
Brown 2 Green Associates can identify the level of potential liability inherited during the purchase of a site. We can review information contained within the vendors pack and provide a better understanding of the possible abnormal costs incurred during the development of a site.
Services include:
· Pre-acquisition Due Diligence
· Environmental Liability Assessment
· Divestment Site Investigations
· Definition of Abnormal Costs
· Environmental Compliance
· Contaminated Land Site Investigation and Remediation
Utility Route Geological Feasibility Studies
Brown 2 Green Associates offer a range of geological, geotechnical and geochemical services to the utility industry. We are able to assist through the completion of geological evaluation of proposed utility routes using both office based and field based techniques. To determine the appropriate methodology to be adopted for horizontal directional drilling, our experienced staff are able to design, plan and undertake site investigations to determine the geological conditions.
To assess the thermal insulating properties of the soil, Brown 2 Green Associates are able to undertake in-situ and ex-situ thermal resistivity testing. Tests can be undertaken at shallow depths in trial pits or on samples from greater depths obtained from boreholes.
Services include:
· Thermal resistivity testing
· Geological evaluations
· Directional drilling feasibility studies
· Ground characterisation and route alignment selection
· Contaminated land and geotechnical site investigation
